East Bloomington is well known for having the best shopping in the United States. While Bloomington itself may not seem like the bustling metropolis, it is the home of the largest malls in the United States, the Mall of America. This massive mall features more stores in a single area than anywhere else in the country and is one of the biggest destinations in the region bringing in tourists from around the country. The mall features several floors, hundreds of shopping options, and numerous other forms of entertainment all within a single place.
Directly to the north of the Mall of America is the Minneapolis – St. Paul International Airport. This massive airport provides transportation to the rest of the country and around the world. This huge airport is easily the largest in the region and provides flights throughout the year to many different destinations. The airport is also a major employer in the area with many employees living in East Bloomington.
East Bloomington is also home to one of the largest parks in the Bloomington area. Valley View Playfield is not only one of the largest, it is easily one of the most popular. The park is filled with baseball fields that are used throughout the year and especially during youth baseball season. Also in the park are six tennis courts that are always in regular use, two basketball courts, and a large playground that is popular with younger area children. The park is also home to the Bloomington Family Aquatic Center. The aquatic center is used by residents throughout the surrounding area and is well known for the numerous water slides and plenty of swimming space.
