West Bloomington Neighborhood

West Bloomington is a large suburban area of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and lies about ten minutes south of downtown. This community reaches from I-35W on the east to Highway 169 on the west, and I-494 on the north to near Highway 13 on the south. This area is primarily residential, but also has a seemingly endless number of parks, lakes, and golf courses located conveniently within the community. Commercial developments are located along the major Interstates.

The residential areas here, range from traditional single-family homes to elegant and expansive properties, along the banks of Bush Lake.

West Bloomington is served by the Hiawatha Line, a light rail transit system that connects West Bloomington to downtown Minneapolis and surrounding areas, including MSP Airport, the Mall of America, Target Field, and the Metrodome. The light rail and Metro Transit bus service make West Bloomington a convenient place for commuters to reside, and help ensure an eco-friendly community.

The employment opportunities in the area are countless, with many large companies located here — Ceridian, Healthpartners, Toro, and Donaldson Company, Inc., to name only a few.

West Bloomington is a shopper’s haven, with the Mall of America located close by. The second largest in the United States, this mall offers four levels of shopping bliss and more stores than can be shopped in one day. The mall receives visitors from all over the world and is a large economic lift to the community.

Bush Lake, the largest lake in the West Bloomington area, offers fishing and a swim beach that attracts over 100,000 visitors a year. You will find West Bloomington residents sunning on Bush Lake on those gorgeous Minnesota summer days.

For golf enthusiasts, there’s Minnesota Valley Country Club in southern West Bloomington. This classically-styled course is ideal for all skill levels. In addition, West Bloomington is home to Dwan Golf Club and Hyland Greens Golf Course.
