Elmendorf Air Force Base Area Apartment Housing

The Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson was established in 2010 after Elmendorf Air Force Base and Fort Richardson merged. Elmendorf Air Force Base and nearby Fort Richardson were both built in 1940. The host wing, the 673d Air Base Wing consists of 5,500 military and civilian personnel.

Apartments in the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson area will most likely be found in the nearby city of Anchorage, which is just southwest of the base. Anchorage is the largest city in Alaska, home to over 100,000 residents. In addition to military, Anchorage’s economy is also based around government, tourism, industry (especially petroleum) and transportation. Many corporate headquarters are also located in Anchorage, including ConocoPhillips Alaska.
