Marietta, Georgia is located about 15 miles northwest of Atlanta. Established in 1834, it offers the charm of a small town and the excitement of urban living.
The Marietta Square has quaint restaurants, specialty shops, museums, and a park with an amphitheater and play area. You will find many dining opportunities on the Square, from casual options like Marietta Pizza Company, Shillings on the Square, and Sweet Cakes to fine restaurants such as Top of the Square and Simpatico. For international flair, you might like the famous House of Lu, Australian Bakery, or Efe’s Mediterranean Grill.
The shopping is most unique, starting with Eddie’s Trick Show, where you find a selection of outrageous costumes and practical jokes. If you like boutique shopping, you will love L. Michelle. For the art gallery crawler, the square is filled with original art galleries. If antiquing is your thing, rummage through Castaway, Duprey’s, and Nantiques on the Square.
In April, one of the Square’s largest festivals occurs, Taste of Marietta, where area restaurants come together for a taste of their summer menus. Other festivals include Santa on the Square.
Although there are many famous people from the area, our most recent being tennis star Melanie Oudin, two local favorites are Travis Tritt, famous country/western singer, and actor Robert Patrick.
Two colleges call Marietta home: Life University and Southern Poly Tech. However, you are only a short drive away from Georgia State University, Georgia Tech, and Kennesaw State University.
Kennesaw Mountain State Park and Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield are located in Marietta. This historic park has a large running trail up the mountain for walkers, runners, and cyclists.
Lockheed Martin, Home Depot, and IBM are just a few of the major corporations headquartered in Marietta.
