Sulphur Springs Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
Sulphur Springs is a mostly black community with an average annual family income of about $28,000 per year and home values of about $100,000. The area is home to mostly younger families and senior citizens. The community is centered just off of Interstate 275 and County Road 584 providing quick access to some of the most popular venues throughout the Tampa area.
Recreation and entertainment are a major part of the Sulphur Springs area. With many different types of entertainment in the general region, it is not only a popular area for local residents, but also for travelers from around the Tampa region. One of the most popular destinations is a few miles southwest of the community. Lowry Park Zoo is not just any zoo. This is one of the most highly rated zoos in the entire country and is featured on television shows on a regular basis. The zoo is also home to many events, such as the Wine Festival and, of course, Zoo Boo, which is the annual Halloween setup made for younger kids who can’t handle the scarier haunted houses.
On the north side of Lowry Park Zoo is Kid City. This Children’s Museum is a popular destination normally for zoo visitors looking to extend their day. For many of those in the Sulphur Springs area, entertainment for children is less than a mile away at Riverview Terrace Playground off of Kirby Street. This playground features a large play area, multiple basketball courts, and an all-purpose court. The area is also an appealing destination for picnics.
One of most popular area attractions is also how the neighborhood got its name. Located on the southern border are the sulphur springs. This waterfront park takes advantage of the area hot springs, making it an ideal place to relax and swim with the numerous fish and turtles that enjoy the warm springs, as well.
