For those that are looking for a little more action, Lettuce Lake Park is only a few miles down Fletcher Avenue. This large park is home to a section of the Hillsborough River, which is a popular area waterway. Canoeing, kayaking, and boating are very popular on the Hillsborough, which is a known home for hundreds of alligators, turtles, and birds. The park is also a regular spot for bird watchers and nature lovers. It is common to see eco-tourists with their cameras and binoculars walking the many paths and area boardwalks. Picnic areas are also present throughout the park.
