Woodmere Neighborhood

Northeast and up river from downtown Jacksonville, Florida, is the riverside community of Woodmere. It is a heavily wooded area that has the look and feel of a seaside resort with winding roads and cul-de-sacs. Homes on the water have boat docking facilities. The average listing price for a home here is $179,000. This neighborhood is car-dependent with a low walkability score.

If you are interested in purchasing a condo in this area, the Casa Bella Condominiums are close by.

There are public, private and Christian schools nearby including Learning Tree School. The Florida State College at Jacksonville is in the area.

The restaurants feature Italian, seafood, BBQ and sports bars. For movie entertainment there’s the AMC Theatres – Regency 24.

As for parks, the City of Jacksonville Blue Cypress Community Center, Victory Park and Arlington Park are in the immediate vicinity.

But it is the location of Woodmere, and the community itself that is the real draw here. Many areas are secluded and private. If you have the good fortune to own a property on the St. Johns River, you can grab your boat and go on your own private cruise anytime it suits you. If you don’t own a boat or are away from the river, you can rent one at Morningstar Marina at the mouth of the river. If you have a boat but do not live on the river, you can arrange to dock it there.

State route 109 is nearby for easy access to the attractions and events in downtown Jacksonville as well as to the beaches on the coast.
