The Whitehouse neighborhood of Jacksonville, Florida is a bedroom community of the Jacksonville Naval Air Station, otherwise known as NAS Jax. It is a small, west side residential community in the 32220 zip code area. Flanked by County Road 119 to the west, Interstate 10 to the south, the Whitehouse Naval Outlying Field to the north, and Jones Road to the east, Whitehouse is a rural-suburban area of Jacksonville that is mostly populated by military families and industrial businesses like A & A Welding and Fabrication and Linder Industrial Machinery.

Whitehouse offers several outdoor activities. Hunting, fishing, and mud bogging (racing off-road vehicles through muddy woods and fields) are common weekend adventures in this community. In keeping with its family-centric community reputation, Whitehouse has a wonderful sports park located next to the Whitehouse Elementary School. Whitehouse Park, at 11100 General Avenue, just off of Chaffee Road South, has baseball and softball fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, covered picnic facilities, three playgrounds, and public restrooms. The park is at the center of the Whitehouse community and plays a big part in the residents’ recreation.

Though Whitehouse lacks large-scale shopping and entertainment facilities, it is very close to those opportunities at NAS Jax to the west and the neighborhoods of Crystal Springs and Rolling Hills to the east. It also has a highway entrance (number 351) for Interstate 10 that can take travelers west toward the historic towns of Lake City and White Springs or east toward the I-10 and I-295 interchange, which in turn will take drivers anywhere in the greater Jacksonville area.
