However, the land surrounding Florida 9A and New Berlin Road, the primary thorough roads in the area, became very attractive to investors looking to develop residential as well as commercial acreage, along these prime roadways.
Today New Berlin is gradually expanding with new apartment complexes, retail developments, restaurants and business parks.

Today, visitors can picnic in an authentic reproduction of a Confederate and Union troop camp.
Big Talbot Island State Park, a huge 1,700 acre park just a few miles east of New Berlin, is a nature preserve and a location for nature study, bird-watching, photography, hiking, cycling, fishing, canoeing, kayaking and picnicking.
One of the three Jacksonville Port Authority (Jaxport) terminals is located on the west side of New Berlin. The cargo and cruise business at Jacksonville’s seaports supports 65,000 jobs across the region and generates over $1.9 billion in annual economic impact.
Just to the east of New Berlin, an island called Blount Island, houses another of Jaxports cargo ports as well as the site of the United State Marine Corps Blount Island Command.
