Located just northeast of the Jacksonville Airport, the Duval neighborhood features urban convenience in a verdant, natural landscape. The neighborhood is only a five-minute drive from Duval Road to Interstate 95 and the 9A, and 18 miles to downtown Jacksonville. There are many great attractions within walking distance, and just 10 minutes away are two preserved wilderness areas.

Several churches are within walking distance of the Duval community, including Forest Christian Church and Duval Station Baptist Church. It’s a mile down Duval Station Road to First Coast High School, and less than two miles to Oceanway Elementary School and Oceanway Middle School. Locals take advantage of the high school’s baseball field, and tennis and basketball courts, as well as the four baseball diamonds at Tom Marshall Park.

Duval’s high school is adjacent to a popular shopping center and Publix, the local grocery store. Other shopping opportunities include River City Marketplace, an outdoor mall with brand names and national restaurant chains; and Pecan Park Flea and Farmer’s Market, the largest outdoor market in North Florida.

Because of Duval’s proximity to the airport and hotels, opportunities for public transportation into the city abound. Duval residents enjoy visiting the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens, home to 1,800 wild animals and fun interactive children’s activities, and catching concerts at the 15,000-seat Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. Another attraction is the nearby Anheuser-Busch brewery, with available tours for interested residents.

Even with all of the great indoor activities, Duval might still be best known for its outdoor activities. At Pumpkin Hill Creek Preserve State Park, one of the last intact areas of coastal uplands in Duval County, locals have access to five miles of hiking and biking trails. Just east of Pumpkin Hill Creek is a wetlands preserve that includes Fort Caroline and the historic Kingsley Plantation.

Residents flock to the Duval area for its variety of activities. For that reason, this area is very much in demand.
