Baymeadows Road borders Deerwood Center to the east and south, Southside Boulevard borders to the west, and Butler Boulevard borders to the north. There are sidewalks on main roads and bus transportation is available. Several nearby locations offer bicycle paths, such as Jackson Baldwin Rail Trail, Tillie K. Several universities are located within a short driving distance, such as Webster University – Graduate School, Florida State College – Deerwood Center, and University of Phoenix.

TPC Sawgrass, home of the Players Tournament PGA Tour Championship golf course is only a 25-minute drive from Deerwood Center. Other wonderful golfing opportunities are easily accessible at Deerwood Country Club Golf Course, Jacksonville Golf and Country Club, and Saint Johns Golf and Country Club.

Jennings State Forest, approximately 54 minutes away, features horseback riding trails, hiking trails and wildlife watching. The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is just 12 miles away and offers lush botanical gardens, as well as a glimpse at endangered species. Camp Milton Historical Preserve, which features Civil War reenactments, is in the area as well.
