Switzer Ridge Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
High in the mountains of northern Arizona, the night skies are dark and glowing with glorious, astronomical sights in the Switzer Ridge neighborhood of Flagstaff. It is a quiet community, sheltered by grand and imposing pine trees, their needles creating a thick carpet on paved streets and rugged paths throughout the area.
Switzer Ridge is located a few blocks northeast of Northern Arizona University, home of the Lowell Observatory. Lowell, along with the United States Naval Observatory, is a popular destination for residents of the Switzer Ridge community. Astronomy is the reason the skies are so dark in the City of Flagstaff, based on an ordinance passed in 1958 and intended to reduce light pollution.
The Switzer Ridge community benefits from access to several main roads. It is only minutes away from State Route 180 and Historic U. S. 66 but a bit farther away from the busiest roads, Interstates 40 and 17, which are located on the southern end of Northern Arizona University. These heavily traveled highways lead to various destinations. Highway 180 travels north toward the Grand Canyon. Historic U. S. 66 and Interstate 40 journey east and west toward New Mexico and California, respectively, and Interstate 17 heads south to Phoenix, the Valley of the Sun.
The community is located west of the Coconino Country Club, a perfect place to play golf and tennis and participate in exciting social and dining events. The Flagstaff Country Club is located north of the Switzer Ridge community, and the Flagstaff Aquaplex is located to the east. These facilities provide lots of recreational opportunities to neighborhood residents.
Switzer Ridge is located east of the Flagstaff Plaza Shopping Center and south of the Midtown Shopping Center. It is a pleasant community where people walk their dogs and enjoy the fresh mountain air.
