Also located in the downtown area is Thorpe Park, a large regional park on North Thorpe Road. The activity opportunities here are nearly endless, from trails and a dog park to athletic fields and a disc golf course. Area residents come here to picnic, play and enjoy their families.

Another prominent attraction of the downtown area is Northern Arizona University, which offers more than 100 undergraduate and graduate programs.
