At about a mile from Interstate 35, Forest Hills has a lot to offer, other than just convenience. This is a neighborhood in the 78666 zip code area that is also within a mile from Texas State University and several scenic parks.

Texas State University is well known throughout the nation. That isn’t just because of the quality of education, but also because of the athletic teams of excellence. Counting football, basketball, soccer, tennis, baseball, and other sports, Texas State has it all. A large number of educational programs are available for both undergraduate and graduate studies. The academic and athletic excellence of TSU is widely recognized.

Forest Hills is less than a half-mile from Spring Lake and San Marcos River. This is an historic location in the extreme. Artifacts have been found near the lake and San Marcos River that have been dated at over 12,000 years. Both the lake and the river are spring fed and are bordered by large, lush trees. Wildlife is plentiful, including several endangered species. Animal watchers and photographers can be delighted at the tremendous opportunities for spotting wildlife in this location.

Rio Vista Falls Park is also located about a mile from this neighborhood. This is a place of scenic beauty and is great for whitewater enthusiasts. It is well used by kayakers. This park is used by the community for sunbathing and swimming, as well as for picnics. The city of San Marcos also installed a wireless network in the park, so web surfing is even available.

Additionally, there are numerous places to fish within five miles of Forest Hills

As the name implies, this is a neighborhood with plenty of large trees throughout. Living here is like living in a forest, literally. Magnificent scenery is available right from the doorstep.
