Rainbow Hills Apartments for Rent

(hide neighborhood information)

The Rainbow Hills neighborhood is located in the heart of military territory. Lackland Air Force Base adjoins this vicinity at a major intersection on the southeast corner. The thoroughfares crossing this area are Interstate 410, and Highways 90 and 16.

The community is rather large with many streets and drives that square off like city streets rather than ending in cul-de-sacs. One-story, small homes sit in close proximity to one another. Natural driveways and small lawns give this neighborhood a casual appearance. While some yards are fenced in the back with dog fencing, many are left open. Tree coverage is more limited than in some areas of this city.

Glenn Elementary School is in the immediate community, along with Yates Community Center. Other nearby public and private education facilities include Rainbow Hills Baptist School, La Petite Academy, Adams Hill Elementary and Lighthouse Charter School.

Westwood Swimming Pool is an excellent fitness center to take some lessons, or take a swim on a hot summer day. Lackland Terrace Park is a seven acre park nearby. This public recreational facility offers athletic fields, playground equipment and a short strip of soft surface trail. Also at the park is the Virginia Gill Community Center.

With multi-purpose business districts surrounding the military base adjacent to the Rainbow Hills neighborhood, there is a large variety of entertainment as well as businesses that cater to the average household need. The Walmart Supercenter on Military Drive is an excellent shopping store that carries a wide range of products from groceries to sporting goods.

Bus Transportation is concentrated throughout the area. With many major highways and Interstate 410 in this immediate area, commuting to any location will be quick.
