A large part of the surrounding Kingsborough Ridge area is the Mission San Juan De Capistrano. It was founded in 1716 by Spanish Catholics of the Franciscan Order and has been in its present location since 1731. Mission San Juan De Capistrano was a self-sustaining religious community. Today, it is maintained by the National Park Service as a part of the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park.
