One of six Memorial Villages near Houston, Texas, Piney Point Village has roots dating all the way back to 1824, and is located in Harris County, in the 77063 zip code area. Although most of the city is north of the Buffalo Bayou, the wealthiest area of the city can be found to the south of this landmark. Notable residents include Roger Clemens, former Houston Astros pitcher. Although Clemens left Houston after the 2006 season (and baseball a year later), residents can still cheer on his former team at Houston’s Minute Maid Park.
Piney Point Village shares a nationally accredited police department with the Memorial Villages of Hunters Creek Village and Bunker Hill Village, making this a safe neighborhood to raise a family. Families going on vacation even have the option of having the police keep an eye on their house through a unique House Watch program.
Piney Point is roughly equidistant from Westheimer Road and I-10, the latter giving residents easy access to Memorial Park. One of the largest city parks in the nation, Memorial covers more than 1,400 acres and includes an 18-hole golf course, as well as skating, volleyball, softball, tennis and swimming facilities. Golfers can eat at Becks Prime, conveniently located on the grounds, or head on into Houston for plenty of fine dining and entertainment options.
The majority of Piney Point Village falls within the Spring Branch Independent School District (SBISD), but the Houston Independent School District serves a small portion as well. Public schools in the SBISD include Memorial Drive Elementary, Spring Branch Middle School and Memorial High, but several top-notch private schools serve the area as well. Kids and adults alike can take a ride on the reading rainbow at the Harris County Public Library Spring Branch or the Memorial Branch in nearby Hedwig Village, another of Houston’s six Memorial Villages.
