A large residential area, Golfcrest sits in the southeastern corner, just outside of the inner loop. Close to large medical centers, shopping areas, and city parks, Golfcrest has a little something for everyone. Mykawa Road acts as Golfcrest’s western border within the 77087 zip code. To the north, Highway 610 curves to meet its western boundary, Highway 45. The southern boundary of Golfcrest follows a winding creek that branches off from Burnet Bay and cuts through most of southeastern Houston.

To the north, Gulfgate Shopping City is one of Houston’s biggest shopping centers. Here, Anna’s Linens, Best Buy, and Sally Beauty Supply sit around Dot Coffee Shop and Stubb’s Harley Davidson sales lot.

The Texas Specialty Hospital sits to the west of Golfcrest. This hospital is part of the Fundamental Company, which oversees several hospitals around the country, including a handful in Texas, and is dedicated to the specialty and long-term care of patients and their families.

Schools in the Golfcrest area include Brookline Elementary School and Golfcrest Elementary School, both part of the Houston Independent School District. Also nearby is Houston Gateway Academy, a charter school alternative to public schools. Houston Community College is a nearby higher education institution a few miles north of Golfcrest.

Golfcrest also offers easy access to parks including Brookline Park, which is close to Brookline Elementary School, and has open spaces and playground equipment accessible after school hours. Golfcrest sits to the east of Barnett Stadium, a multi-purpose sports complex that seats 8,000 people and is owned by Houston Independent School District.
