With these campuses located within miles of the neighborhood there is plenty to keep sports fans happy. Vanderbilt fields several varsity Division 1 sports teams, and its Commodores are best known for successful mens and womens basketball programs and a very competitive baseball team. All of the University’s fans flock to see the games held in Vanderbilt’s high-end sports facilities located within walking distance from Hillsboro-West End.

21st Avenue is where many of the neighborhood’s shops and restaurants can be found. Many wait for hours to eat at the Pancake Pantry in hopes of catching a glimpse of a country music star. Yet the biggest attraction on 21st Avenue is the historic Belcourt Theater, a longtime Nashville institution. It is the hub for the local film community, showing first-run art house films, but also hosts many fundraising events.

There are many well regarded K-12 schools in or within walking distance of Hillsboro-West End including Eakin Elementary school and the University School of Nashville.
