Located in northeastern Atlanta, the city of Chamblee is a charming suburban community just north of Dekalb-Peachtree Airport and adjacent to Oglethorpe University. Chamblee Station, part of the MARTA system, makes commuting into Atlanta a breeze on the train’s Gold Line.
Chamblee started out as a rural area dotted with dairy farms. When the railroad came through the area, the community began to grow. At the time, the settlement was known as Roswell Junction. When the Postal Service decided to open a post office in the area in 1885, they decided the name of the community too closely resembled that of nearby Roswell. How they decided upon Chamblee remains a mystery, but it is believed that Chamblee was a random choice.
With just 13 miles to downtown Atlanta, Chamblee apartments are a great choice for those who wish to be near the excitement of the metro, but still have a quieter community to call home. Downtown Chamblee retains its historical railroad town feel, and the area contains a multitude of shops and antique stores. When selecting your apartment in Chamblee, be sure to check out the downtown area, which contains charming lofts, apartments, and townhomes – and they are all near the Chamblee MARTA Station.
