For a day out the whole family will enjoy, residents can make the short trip to the north and visit the 2,820-acre Mohawk Park, on the shores of Lake Yahola. The park features nine miles of hiking trails, as well as a 36-hole regular golf course, a disc golf course, playgrounds and picnic areas. Fishing in Lake Yahola is allowed, yielding sunfish, carp and sockeye salmon. Also located at Mohawk Park is the Tulsa Zoo and Living Museum. Opened in 1927, this 78-acre site features over 1,500 animals.

A few minutes away in downtown Tulsa is the Tulsa Performing Arts Center. This 4-theater facility regularly hosts opera, ballet, and symphony performances.

Students appreciate the fact that the University of Tulsa is located right outside of Sequoyah to the southwest. This private university offers a wide variety of graduate and undergraduate degrees.
