Silver Creek is a new single-family residential development in far north Oklahoma City. The neighborhood falls into the boundaries of the excellent Edmond Public School system, and it is located directly behind Angie Debo Elementary on May Avenue and 159th Street. Many neighborhood streets are lined with sidewalks which makes it easy to take strolls around the block or walk the dogs. Homes in Silver Creek are predominantly single-story structures with attached garages and brick exteriors.
About a mile and a half south of Silver Creek on May Avenue, the large Quail Springs Mall is a great community gathering place. Most national mall chains are located within Quail Springs, as well as the AMC 24 Movie Theater with an IMAX 3D screen. Surrounding the mall on Memorial Road, more office parks, big box stores, and restaurants are all within a quick drive of Silver Creek. At May Avenue and Memorial Road, there is an onramp to the Kilpatrick Turnpike which allows fast commutes to Edmond, the Northwest Expressway business area, and downtown Oklahoma City via the Broadway Extension or Hefner Parkway.
Golf is a very popular activity in northwest Oklahoma City, so nearby clubs such as Rose Creek, Quail Creek, The Greens, or Gallardia might be of interest to Silver Creek residents. Northwest Oklahoma City’s recreational mecca is Lake Hefner. The medium-sided lake is often covered with gentle whitecap waves, making it a perfect place for sailing, windsurfing, and flying kites. About ten miles of jogging and biking trails circle the lake. Since Silver Creek is on the edge of the urban area, it is also easy to take peaceful drives into the rural countryside.
Right on the fringe of Oklahoma City, Silver Creek is a great neighborhood to live the suburban lifestyle and still be close to the commercial and recreational amenities of the city.
