Briarwood Circle is an established neighborhood in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma which showcases brick traditional and bungalow-type homes on lots that are shaded by silver lindens, sugar maples, bald cypresses, oaks, and common hackberry trees. The area is bounded by Northeast 23rd Street to the south, North Martin Luther King Avenue to the east, North Prospect Avenue to the west, and Northeast 36th Street on the northside.
In addition, the community is conveniently located to Oklahoma City’s interstate system as it lies just east of I-235, north of I-40, and west of I-35. Lake Overhoser, a manmade reservoir constructed in 1919, lies west of the neighborhood and offers such recreational activities as fishing, boating, and sailing. Golfers, too, in the neighborhood have access to a number of area golf courses, such as the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club, and the Lake Hefner Golf Club, both which are located to the northwest.
Lake Hefner, which is situated north of the Lake Hefner Golf Club, is another manmade reservoir that is a popular recreational venue. The area provides bicyclers almost 10 miles of trails. Built in 1947, it was constructed in order to add to the city’s supply of water.
Residents in the Briarwood Circle neighborhood also have easy access to shopping at the Penn Square Mall, which can be found at 1901 Northwest Expressway in Oklahoma City. Anchor stores include Dillard’s, J.C. Penney, and Macy’s, and popular retailers, such as Coldwater Creek and Ann Taylor, make up the many stores at the expansive shopping complex. The mall is open from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.
