Linwood Apartments for Rent

The Linwood neighborhood lies south of East Livingston Avenue and north of I-70. South James Road forms the western boundary. It is an area of small ranch homes, schools, parks, libraries, and a few national fast-food restaurants. Linwood is just across East Livingston Avenue from the sprawling Bennett Park and Recreational Center and The Columbus Metropolitan Library. Adjoining that is Johnson Memorial Park.

Linwood is within a mile of a Wal-Mart Supercenter. A major grocery store and Great Eastern Shoppers Mart Shopping Center are also within a mile of Linwood. The giant J. C. Penney Outlet store is just southeast, about a ten-minute drive away. The outlet mall is a popular place for locals and tourists alike.

A short drive east on East Livingston Avenue takes you into the Walter A. Tucker Nature Preserve and Blacklick Woods Park. This is a great area for year round recreation, with bike and jogging, and hiking trails. In the winter it is a good place for cross-country skiing. There are two golf courses here as well.

Several historic sites to the west of Linwood include the Thurber House, home of one of Columbus’ most famous writers, James Thurber. The Ohio Historical Society and the 19th century farmstead known as Ohio Village is an interesting place to visit. Many people enjoy stopping in at the nearby German Village to sample the food.

The Brewery District, to the west of Linwood, is a lively entertainment area, with numerous pubs and restaurants. It blends with a great recreation area as well, the Scioto Audubon Metro Park.

A number of small liberal arts colleges are in this area and The Ohio State University is not far to the northwest of Linwood. The area has good public transportation from COTA.
