Salem Village Neighborhood

Salem Village is a community in northern Columbus, roughly 15 minutes from the downtown area. The neighborhood is situated just west of Interstate 71 and south of State Highway 161. Several other major area roadways are nearby as well. The ZIP code for this Franklin County community is 43229.

One of the significant features of the Salem Village neighborhood is its proximity to a variety of area shopping centers. At least a dozen retail centers can be found within a five-mile radius of Salem Village, surrounding the neighborhood on all sides. One of the closest to home is the Continent Mall Shopping Center, an outdoor shopping center that offers a movie theater, a variety of specialty shops, dining options, and apartment living. Graceland Shopping Center, located about one mile southwest of the neighborhood, offers a grocery store for convenient access to the necessities.

There is no shortage of parkland in the Salem Village community. A chain of largely undeveloped parkland can be found to the west, and a handful of small neighborhood parks are within walking distance of the community. To the north, along I-71, is the Sharon Woods Metropolitan Park. This city park offers wide expanses of open green space surrounding Schrock Lake. It is a great destination for a picnic or some outdoor games.

At least a half-dozen golf courses can be found within a five-mile radius of Salem Village. One of the closest to home is the Minerva Lake Golf Club. This nearby club offers a public 18-hole, par-69 course that is highly playable for nearly any skill level. When the weather permits, the course is open year-round, from dawn to dusk.

Other major area attractions roughly five miles south of Salem Village are The Ohio State University and the Port Columbus International Airport.
