Iuka Ravine, in Columbus, Ohio, is part of the University District in North Columbus. It bounded on the east by North Fourth Street, to the south by East 19th and East 20th Street, to the west by Indianola Avenue, and to North by Oakland Avenue. Generally, the Iuka Ravine runs along Iuka Avenue.
The Iuka Ravine is near Ohio State University, and many of the homes in the area are rentals for students. Along the ravine, the homes were originally built in the 1920s as housing for professors at the university, and many of them have been preserved, or rehabilitated, to reflect the original architecture and beauty of the homes.
Football Saturdays are like an earthquake in Iuka Ravine, because it is within walking distance to the Horseshoe. When the Ohio State University football team tees it up, the whole city stops to watch, and more than 100,000 people find seats in the stadium for every game. Buckeye football is the reason for many parties in the city, and when Michigan rolls into town, the party lasts for a while.
Soccer fans can have a short ride to Crew Stadium, just east of Iuka Ravine at Hudson Avenue and Interstate 71. One of the only “Soccer Only” stadiums in the country, the Columbus Crew, draws a large group of passionate, and crazy, soccer fans for every home game. Sitting in the Nor Deck is where you will find the hardiest of supporters.
Iuka Ravine is close to one of the premier centers for the arts in all of the Midwest, The Wexner Center for the Arts, at 1871 North High Street. The Wexner Center has facilities to present live theatre and music, films from all over the world and around the corner, and a gallery with a constantly changing exhibit.
