Harrison West Neighborhood

Harrison West is north of Downtown Columbus and near the Ohio State University. The boundaries of Harrison West are West Fifth Avenue to the north, Harrison Venue to the east, West Goodale Street to the south, and the railroad tracks to the west.

Harrison West was a neglected neighborhood facing demolition in the 1970s. Restoration of the homes first built in the 1800s and 1900s began and the neighborhood moved from a crime ridden area to one of the most beautiful parts of the city. The homes reflect the workmanship of the craftsmen who built the brick structures and home prices are at the top of the scale for Greater Columbus. The restored homes and brick facades, along with the mature elm and sycamore trees, make this a prime neighborhood for an afternoon stroll or bike ride.

There is a lot to do in and around Harrison West. The Olentangy Bike Trail run along the river and is a main bike route south to downtown or north to the city of Delaware. There are unique and local coffee shops, bakeries, and ice cream shops around the area that make a great destination to walk to. Parks, like Wheeler Dog Park, Battelle Green, and Goodale Park, are a short walk from anywhere in the neighborhood and have playgrounds, sports fields, and picnic grounds.

Being near the Ohio State University, Harrison West is a part of every football Saturday. A short walk and the Horseshoe Stadium with 100,000 plus screaming fans come into view. Lane Avenue is the center of the Buckeye universe, and on game days, it is one long outdoor cocktail party.
