Eastland Neighborhood

Eastland is one of several neighborhoods around Columbus, Ohio area. The population of the Eastland area of Columbus is 41,136 covering an area of 18.784 square miles.

It is an area that has the distinction of having the first enclosed mall in the state of Ohio. It is called the Eastland Mall. It was opened in 1968 and has 80 stores and over 4,900 parking spaces. There is always something going on within the mall and there is a variety of shops which provides a shopping experience for all ages along with entertainment. The amount of gross leasable area encompasses just under 1,000,000 square feet.

Recreation is also a part of this neighborhood within a bowling establishment called Eastland Lanes. These lanes have 50 AMF high performance lanes available for their customers who want to take part in this great sport.

Educational opportunities are not missing in this neighborhood. Great educational opportunities exist through such facilities as the Eastland Career Center. The Eastland Career Center provides a wide variety of subjects for all ages from high school to adults. The methods used in providing the educational resources may be unique to some extent as they offer self-study. Many students who complete most full time programs are eligible to take national or state certification exams. This is an example of the quality of the education resources provided by this institution. An added benefit of this institution is the availability of a counselor to assist full-time students in their efforts to get an education for a variety of reasons. They assist in helping to overcome barriers to success which include educational and career goals, practical issues and personal problems. One of their main principles is that all students can learn.
