Silver Lake Neighborhood

The neighborhood of Silver Lake is located in Wilmington, North Carolina. It is part of New Hanover County. Wilmington is located on the Cape Fear River, and is a large seaport town. The Silver Lake neighborhood is bordered on the north by the Landmark Industrial Park and on the east side by Carolina Beach Road. The southern boundary is formed by Carolina Beach Road and the Cape Fear River. The area is a mixture of residential homes, apartment complexes, town homes, businesses, and commercial properties.

Within the neighborhood is Silver Lake. The lake is home to many fish species and fishermen have reported catching large mouth bass and bluegill. Other fishing spots in the area include Town Creek, Mott Creek, Barnard’s Creek, and Lower Brunswick Range. Located just north east of Silver Lake is the Pine Valley Country Club. Established in 1955, the club features an 18-hole golf course and well-equipped pro shop. They offer tennis courts, fine dining, full banquet facilities, and a swimming pool. Also nearby is the Halyburton Park. The park’s main attraction is the Nature center. The center offers live animal displays, classroom facilities, meeting rooms, and a gift shop. The park features a 1.3 mile handicap accessible trail, a playground, picnic tables, and shelters.

Students in the area may attend Mary C. Williams Elementary, Charles P. Murray Middle School, and Ashley Eugene High School. Colleges in the area include University of North Carolina, and it’s Surgical Associates and Human Resources programs, the Thalian Hall Center for the Performing Arts, and Cape Fear Community College.
