The friendly little town of Wake Forest, North Carolina has managed to retain its historical charm, even as it continues to grow. This popular destination is located about 10 miles north of Raleigh — home to North Carolina University and Research Triangle Park. Incorporated in 1909, Downtown Wake Forest is an official historic district.

Before Wake Forest University moved to Winston-Salem in 1956, it was located in Wake Forest. The building, built in 1834, is now a museum. Falls Lake State Recreation Area is 26,000 acres of wooded park surrounding a 12,000-acre lake. This huge park has many recreational opportunities, including swimming, fishing, boating, and camping.
