Raleigh, North Carolina is the state’s capital and second largest city. Nicknamed the “City of Oaks,” Raleigh is home to more than 350,000 residents, the state capital building, and North Carolina State University. Downtown Raleigh is thriving with ample shopping, dining, and cultural venues. Throughout Raleigh, nestled amid the wooded streets, are charming neighborhoods.

Located in the 27606 zip code is Powell Townes. This neighborhood features newer townhomes along Powell Townes Way, just off Powell Drive. It is a neighbor to the Western Park community. Both areas are north of Western Boulevard with quick access to the Raleigh Beltline (I-440) and the Tom Bradshaw Freeway (I-40.)

Public transportation can be found via CAT, the Raleigh bus system, as the Buck Jones (Purple11c) route travels near Powell Townes. Riders can also travel the TTA (Triangle Transit Authority,) which runs into downtown Raleigh.

North of Powell Townes is the North Carolina State Fair Grounds, the RBC Center, and the Carter-Finley Stadium. The RBC Center, located on Edwards Mill Road, is home to the ice hockey team, the Carolina Hurricanes.

The campus of North Carolina State University is about two miles from the townhomes on Powell Townes Way. Near the campus is the J. C. Raulston Arboretum, a research/teaching garden managed by the Department of Horticulture from the University, and open to the public.

The North Carolina Museum of Art is about five minutes north of Powell Townes and features a large permanent art collection, including 30 works of Rodin.

Rex Hospital, to the north about four miles on Lake Boone Trail, is one of Wake County’s largest employers.

The public parks, Powell Drive and Pullen Park, are close to Powell Townes. In addition, Lake Johnson Nature Park is about three miles south on Avent Ferry Road. It offers water activities and trails connected to the Capitol Greenway Trail System.
