Parts of Brandt Trace Farms feel like a drive through the countryside, with large homes set far off the road on large, open lots. While the neighborhood is in north Greensboro within the city boundaries, Brandt Trace Farms offers a rural atmosphere with acres of open land. The neighborhood encompasses zip codes 27410 and 27455 and its entrance is off Lake Brandt Road, which borders the neighborhood on the east. Old Battleground Road borders the neighborhood on the south, and Lake Brandt Estates border the neighborhood on the north.

Just south of Brandt Trace Farms are Greensboro Country Park and Guilford Courthouse National Military Park, both popular recreation destinations. Country Park is home to to an off-leash dog park, two fishing lakes, playgrounds, picnic shelters and miles of trails. The park hosts road races and cycling races throughout the year. The military park offers forested trails and a historical tribute to the Revolutionary War battlefield there.

Golfers can take advantage of several top-notch courses in the area, including those at Greensboro Country Club, Starmount Forest Country Club, and Cardinal Golf and Country Club. Some of the best shopping in the area is four miles away at the Friendly Center, which offers high-end stores, restaurants, and a movie theater.

Downtown Greensboro is a quick trip south on Old Battlefield Road. The downtown district is known for its more than 1,000 businesses and stores, as well as cultural centers such as the Greensboro Historical Museum and the Carolina Theater, which hosts plays, concerts and classic movies year round.
