The Second Ward is an urban neighborhood within the downtown area of Charlotte, North Carolina. It is one of four wards in the downtown area and is the location of Charlotte’s government district.
This neighborhood is almost strictly urban with the exception of a park within the neighborhood. Marshall Park offers residents of the neighborhood a place to escape the fast-paced city life. The park features plenty of trees, a lake and wildlife. There is also a very nice fountain in the park.
Being in the city of Charlotte has many advantages such as easy access to the entertainment within. The NASCAR Hall of Fame is located in the Second Ward and features exhibits about some of the most iconic NASCAR drivers in the history of the sport. The NASCAR Hall of Fame has a gift shop with gifts for any lover of the sport. The Bank of America stadium is located in downtown Charlotte and is home to the Panthers. Being close to the stadium alleviates some of the headaches of going to football games such as eating, parking and traveling back. For those that like history there are numerous tours in the area that are sure to keep people entertained.
Shopping and dining in the Second Ward area is diverse. The dining ranges from casual to fine dining, encompassing all ethnicities of food. One of the premier places to shop in the area is EpiCentre which combines dining, entertainment and shopping into one complete package. Shopping includes fashion, electronics and specialty stores while the entertainment ranges from family fun to bars and clubs. The dining at EpiCentre features both casual and fine dining along with some specialty foods.
