More comprehensive outdoor recreation can be found at Platte Falls Conservation area. The 2,300-acres offers fishing, managed hunting, canoeing, hiking, and archery. A 9-mile stretch of the Platte River is busy with planned activities.

Park University is close by. The historic campus dates to 1875 and overlooks the Missouri River. Other major educational institutions can be found in downtown Kansas City, including The University of Missouri Kansas City. Maple Woods Community College is about five miles east on Northwest Barry Road.

Historic sites can be found all around, especially along the Missouri River. Nearby Atchison is the hometown of Amelia Earhart and site of the Lewis and Clark Memorial.

The neighborhood is in a new, fast-growing area of Kansas City. Nearby Zona Rosa is an exciting new dining and retail center. With outdoor access to the many shops and restaurants, it has a village square appeal.
