Platte Ridge Neighborhood

Platte Ridge is a neighborhood of small suburban and larger split-level homes on mostly level terrain. Many areas have sidewalks making for a pleasant walk to nearby movie theaters, restaurants, Barry Road Park, and the retail sites of Edgewood Shopping Center. As an established neighborhood, there are plenty of large shade trees.

Park Hill High School is across the west boundary road of Northwest Congress Avenue. The other boundary roads are Northwest Barry Road, I-29, and Northwest Belvidere Parkway. The zip code is 64152.

Near the intersection of Northwest Tiffany Springs Road and North Congress Avenue is The Springs Aquatic Center. One expects to find a pool certainly, but this new facility also has a float river, water slide, and eight-lane competitive pool. Nearby Tiffany Springs Park has almost 9 miles of trails and connects to other trails within the system. Amity Nature Preserve is also close.

More comprehensive outdoor recreation can be found at Platte Falls Conservation area. The 2,300-acres offers fishing, managed hunting, canoeing, hiking, and archery. A 9-mile stretch of the Platte River is busy with planned activities.

Park University is close by. The historic campus dates to 1875 and overlooks the Missouri River. Other major educational institutions can be found in downtown Kansas City, including The University of Missouri Kansas City. Maple Woods Community College is about five miles east on Northwest Barry Road.

Historic sites can be found all around, especially along the Missouri River. Nearby Atchison is the hometown of Amelia Earhart and site of the Lewis and Clark Memorial.

The neighborhood is in a new, fast-growing area of Kansas City. Nearby Zona Rosa is an exciting new dining and retail center. With outdoor access to the many shops and restaurants, it has a village square appeal.
