East Side is a Kansas City, Missouri neighborhood. It covers a large area in the region of the junction of Interstate 435 and Interstate 70. East Side’s northwestern corner is at East 18th Street and the Paseo. Its southeastern corner is near East 51st Street and Blue Ridge Boulevard. Two additional sectors just to the east are considered as part of this neighborhood, though they are not connected to the main area or to each other.

The center of East Side is about six miles from downtown Kansas City. This makes it close enough to be convenient, yet far enough to be a nice place for families to get out of the city’s daily hustle and bustle. Schools are plentiful, and parks offer a place for family recreation. The Blue River extends through this neighborhood.

Some residents are able to work close to home. Next to Interstate 435 is the Blue Valley Industrial section. This is the largest industrial area within the city limits of Kansas City. Though this area had been held back for many years due to flooding restrictions, in 1970 the flood issues were addressed with a $250 million project. Today, the Blue Valley Industrial Association has plans for more improvements in the area’s infrastructure.

Also in East Side is Arrowhead Stadium, the home of the Kansas City Chiefs. This stadium has seating for 33,975 fans in its upper level, for 35,277 fans in its lower level, and for 10,199 fans in its club level.

The stadium is actually a part of the Truman Sports Complex. Its neighbor, Kauffman Stadium, is considered as one of the crown jewels among ballparks of major league baseball. Home to the Kansas City Royals, it has seating for 37,903 fans. Kauffman is known as a state-of-the-art stadium.
