The City was founded in 1870 by Henry A. Castle. He began his community, which he called Castle Site, along the shores of beautiful Silver Lake, and to this day, Silver Lake has retained its beauty and its reputation as a focal point for community activity.

Stretching to the south and west of the lake, the City was envisioned by Castle as a community combining a busy commercial and industrial life with the peace and quiet of shaded, residential areas, providing a balanced atmosphere for work and play. Should Henry Castle return to his town today, he would find that this balanced atmosphere has been retained. There are many housing options including apartments for rent in North Saint Paul.
There are over fifteen community organizations that provide a wide range of social and civic activities, sponsoring events throughout the year, including:
Slice of Summer, Friday Night History Cruz, Historical Society Ice Cream Social, Fall Roundup , Fire Department Booya (held in Sept.), Fire Department sponsored Halloween Party (Casey Lake Park), Home & Garden Show, Coin Carnival, Local Business sponsored Toy & Mitten Drive (benefiting children of North St. Paul), POW/MIA March, Spring Clean-up as needed.
Nine churches of eight different faiths provide fulfillment of the spiritual needs of the residents.
A well-rounded, centrally located, and expanding business district makes a wide variety of services and commodities readily available for apartment renters:

Including, newspaper, hardware store, bank, post office, medical center, furniture store, floral shop, library, restaurants, karate school, ceramics shop, antique shops, novelty shop, plus many professional and service facilities.

North St. Paul has retained the small-town atmosphere with friendly personal service.

North St. Paul’s municipal services are directed from a new complex on Maragret Street, which includes a Fire Station, Police Department and Administrative Offices.
