Pines Village Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
Traditional, Louisiana style homes and tree-lined streets compose the neighborhood of Pines Village in New Orleans, Louisiana. Even though it is considered as one of New Orleans’ newer neighborhoods overall, it was one of the original New Orleans East developments.
Pines Village is named for Sigmund Pines, the original developer of the area. Pines purchased a large chunk of the land in the area in the 1950s and quickly commenced development of single- and multi-family homes.
The neighborhood is located in zip code 70126 in Orleans Parish. It is bounded by Lake Pontchartrain and Morrison Road to the north, Chef Menteur Highway in the south, Industrial Canal in the west, and Doman Road and Interstate 10 to the east. Lake Pontchartrain and the Lakefront Airport are just north of Pines Village, and the Industrial Canal is immediately to the east.
Couples enjoy relaxing beneath the trees in the local park, while families play games of Frisbee and tag. Several places of worship are located within the neighborhood boundaries, as well. The Kenilworth Mall Shopping Center is just around the corner, and downtown New Orleans is only minutes away.
The province of the New Orleans Public School District includes Pines Village. The schools in this district have undergone a restructuring post-Katrina, and large strides have been made to repair and improve damaged schools.
When it comes to good, Louisiana cooking, Pines Village residents do not need to look too far. Several local, southern style neighborhood restaurants are in Pines Village. If the residents are looking for a fancy, four-star dining experience, endless options abound in nearby areas such as the Warehouse District, French Quarter, and Central Business District.
