B. W. Cooper is located in the city of New Orleans, Louisiana, west of the world-famous Mississippi River. The City Planning Commission defines the boundaries of the B. W. Cooper neighborhood as: Pontchartrain Expressway, South Claiborne Avenue, Martin Luther King Boulevard and South Broad Street. The neighborhood spans an area of 56 acres or 24 city blocks.

The B. W. Cooper neighborhood is convenient to downtown New Orleans and nearby Palmer Park, Taylor Park, and Audubon Park. The Louisiana Super Dome, home of the New Orleans Saints National Football League team, is minutes from the community.

Public schools that serve the community are the Andrew H. Wilson Elementary School, Derham Middle School, and the Saint Mary’s Dominican High School. Institutes of higher learning are Tulane University and Xavier University.

Area museums include the Deutsches House, Germaine Cazenave Wells Mardi Gras Museum, Musee Conti Wax Museum, Hermann-Grima Gallier Historic House, and the Louisiana State Museum among many others.

Just over three miles from B. W. Cooper is the French Quarter. An entertainment district famous for its annual Mardi Gras parade, the French Quarter is home to many restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Numerous music festivals such as the Essence Festival, Jazz & Heritage Festival, French Quarter Festival, Voodoo Music Festival, Swamp Fest, and the Satchmo Summer Fest are held in the immediate vicinity of the B. W. Cooper neighborhood.
