National Hills is a medium-sized community in Augusta-Richmond County. It’s bordered by the Savannah River, Carl Sanders Highway, Washington Road, and the Lakemont neighborhood.
Shopping is plentiful nearby. The Fairway Square Shopping Center and Trends & Traditions Antique Mall are approximately a mile to its west. The Augusta Mall, a major indoor shopping arena of Augusta, is only five miles to its southwest. It has such stores as PacSun, Forever 21, Macy’s, JC Penney, Sephora, and Barnes & Noble. It also has a plentiful food court.
National Hills is a very family-friendly community. The National Hills Elementary School is in the northeastern part of the neighborhood, while Garrett Elementary School and the Augusta School are in the southeastern section. Westside High School is about two miles to its west, while Tuft Middle School is around two miles to its southwest.
The Red Wing Rollerway, a popular attraction for kids, is two miles west of National Hills. The Putt Putt Fun Center is just under four miles to its west, and Northside Lanes is three miles to its east. Adventure Crossing is six and a half miles to its west.
The 1797 Ezekial Harris Historic House, a significant local museum is two miles southeast of the community. The Morris Museum of Art is three and a half miles to its southeast. Fort Discovery, a popular museum for families, is four miles to its southeast.
The Augusta National Golf Club, a famous men’s golf club, borders the neighborhood. It’s often ranked among the top golf courses by Golf Digest. The course has Ike’s Pond, Rae’s Creek, and a big oak tree that was planted in the 1850s.
