The Woodland Hills community is located in DeKalb County, offering relatively easy access to the Downtown Atlanta area. The neighborhood is also close to the Buckhead and Virginia-Highlands neighborhoods. Emory University and its surrounding areas are also located nearby. Woodland Hills’ boundaries are defined by LaVista Road on the north, the CSX railway line to the south, the border of DeKalb County on the west, and Briarcliff Road on the east.

Due to the community’s proximity to Interstates 20, 75 and 85, residents in this area have relatively easy access to a number of the city’s most significant historical landmarks, including the Georgia Capitol, The King Center, the Martin Luther King Jr. Historic Museum, The Fox Theater, and The Margaret Mitchell House and Museum.

Woodland Hills is a short walk or bus ride to the Moreland Avenue shopping center. In fact, a number of bus stops serve the area, and connecting rail service is available at any of the train stations. Shoppers and diners who wish to venture out into the city’s outlying areas would benefit from their cars, but the mass transit system does provide connecting service to a number of local community bus lines.

The largest park in the Woodland Hills area is Grant Park. Located about a mile and a half away, the park is accessible to a number of the surrounding neighborhoods by foot or mass transit. In addition to walking trails, open green spaces, and playgrounds, the park also houses both the city Zoo and the Atlanta Cyclorama.

Grant Park has the distinction of being the largest park in Atlanta, making the area a highly desirable community for homeowners. A number of smaller parks also dot the community, including Benteen Park and Jacci Fuller Woodland Garden Park, offering shaded walking trails and playgrounds for children of varying ages.
