The Oakland City neighborhood is three miles southwest of downtown Atlanta, Georgia. Oakland City is just north of historic Fort McPherson, a US Army base that will close in 2011. The Fort McPherson Redevelopment Project is planning a mixed-use community with shopping, businesses, and living spaces.
The Oakland City MARTA station offers quick and easy transport into downtown Atlanta and nearby attractions. The Oakland City Park Recreation Center provides a pool and Alfred Tup Holmes Golf Course is an 18-hole course located on the site of a Civil War battlefield.
