Located within the larger West End section of Atlanta, Venetian Hills is a small, quiet community less than 15 minutes from downtown and all the major tourist attractions. It is a family-oriented community, with well over a quarter of residents living in a home with at least one child under 18. Because of the number of younger children in the area, eight elementary schools and three middle schools serve the the community.

Like many areas to the south of Atlanta, Venetian Hills and the larger West End area are steeped in history and are home to a large, prosperous African-American community.
