South River Gardens is a rather small, primarily residential community of Atlanta in the 30354 zip code of Fulton County. It lies just southeast of Interstate-285 and encompasses several small roads, including Pine Forest Drive, Forest Park Road, Eisenhower Circle, and Garfield Way.
Most of the homes in the neighborhood are single-family, detached units of varying styles, including Mediterranean, and classic, two-story American houses.
South River Gardens is a picturesque community with tree-lined streets and well-manicured lawns. Several parks and preserves are also nearby. Lake Charlotte Nature Preserve is just on the opposite side of the freeway from the neighborhood. The Jonesboro Triangle Park to the northwest. The 13.5-acre Harper Park is a mile and a half to the west, and offers open parkland, a sports field, playground, and picnic facilities.
It’s a very family-friendly area, with many well-regarded schools within easy walking and driving distance from anywhere in South River Gardens. South Atlanta High School is just over a half-mile to the northwest. Kipp Achieve Academy, which is noted for the scholastic achievements of its students, is a mile and a half west of the community. Hule Elementary School is a mile and a half to its south, while Anderson Elementary School is a mile and a half to the southeast.
Educational opportunities extend far beyond the classroom, in and near the neighborhood. The Teaching Museum of the South is three and a half miles to the west of South River Gardens, while the Delta Heritage Museum is four miles to the west. The Hapeville Depot Museum is three miles to the west. The National Museum of Commercial Aviation, which attracts visitors from all over the country, is four and a half miles to the southwest.
