Penelope Neighbors is a rather small community in western Atlanta. Its home styles are as diverse as its residents, who represent a melting pot of the many cultures within the southeast. From sprawling properties to small lots big enough for a trailer, homes are also spaced out with variety in the Penelope Neighbors community.

Just north of Penelope Neighbors is the 56.7-acre Anderson Park. It has pretty much anything you could want from a community park within walking distance of the neighborhood. It offers two pavilions with grills. While they do not have electricity, they do have water. Picnic tables with shelter can be enjoyed by any resident. Children can enjoy its medium-sized playground, and people of all ages can swim in the park’s own swimming pool. It also offers a softball field and two baseball fields.

Other parks within easy walking distance of Penelope Neighbors include Mozley Park, Shirley Place Park, and Tremont Playlot. Washington Park and John A. White Park are also within two miles of the neighborhood, within easy driving distance.

The Westview Cemetery is a memorial park the lies just a half-mile south of Penelope Neighbors. Lincoln Cemetery is a mile to the west of the neighborhood. Both serve the community.

Historical landmarks of a more cheerful variety near the neighborhood include Wren’s Nest House Museum, only two miles southeast of the center of Penelope Neighbors. The Georgia Capitol Museum is less than four miles to its east. Magic City, a historical landmark, is only three miles east of the neighborhood. A little over four miles northeast is the Margaret Mitchell House and Museum. Margaret Mitchell is best known for penning Gone With the Wind.

Penelope Neighbors is a pedestrian-friendly and environmentally friendly town. You will find sidewalks in many areas of the community, and the Penelope Neighbors residents are connected to the greater Atlanta area via MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority). In fact, there are multiple bus stops through Penelope Neighbors.
