Adjacent to this are Pensacola Regional Airport and Pensacola Junior College.

About three miles north is the University of West Florida, home to almost 12,000 undergraduate and graduate students, as well as championship athletic teams. A nice mile-long walk east is the Scenic Highway, one of the highest points in Florida, and scenic Escambia Bay.

Dog lovers flock to Bayou Texar with their canine friends. Not only do dogs have their own park – they have their own beach and swimming area. Doggy shower facilities allow owners to wash the sand off before heading home.

Golfers don’t have to travel far to hit the links. Among the many area courses is Scenic Hills, near UFW. There are four courses at A. C. Reed at the Naval Air Station and a great public course at Osceola Municipal.

History buffs will enjoy visiting Historic Pensacola Village, a multi-block area featuring the T. T. Wentworth, Jr. Florida State Museum, several historic homes, and smaller museums focusing on commerce and industry. Four historic forts are nearby.
