The City of Pensacola spans a large area of southwestern Florida along the Gulf Coast in the Florida panhandle. Pensacola is divided into several sections that include both residential and business developments. The southwestern area is part of Escambia County with a zip code of 32507.
Pensacola’s Outer Southwest community extends to include the communities of North Shore and Innerarity Shores on an island off the tip of the southwestern peninsula. Perdido Bay acts as the western boundary and constitutes a portion of the state line between Florida and Alabama. This western area includes residences set along the banks of Russell Bayou. County Road 297 connects the island to the peninsula. The Perdido Bay Golf Course and Tarkiln Bayou Preserve State Park are two of the recreational facilities located in this part of the city.
The southern boundary is created by the Big Lagoon and Pensacola Bay. The Pensacola Naval Complex and Forrest Sherman Field are located in the area, as are the AC Read Golf Course and Bayou Grande. The Pensacola Lighthouse is on Radford Boulevard.
The eastern boundary is formed by Bayou Chico and Harbour Pointe; many residential communities are located in this part of the city; residents can golf at Pensacola Country Club, and enjoy smaller neighborhood parks including Lexington Terrace Park and Lake Wood Park, both on the banks of Bayou Chico.
The northern boundary for the Southwest section includes undeveloped lands in the northwest, with Highway 98 providing the north-central and northeastern border. The north-central area mixes residential and business sections. A campus of Pensacola Junior College is located close to Highway 98.
