Ravenswood Gardens Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
Ravenswood Gardens is a neighborhood in west Pensacola, roughly two miles from Pensacola Bay. The Florida community is aptly named. From the air, the neighborhood looks much like a raven’s wing. The top end is wide, almost three blocks across, tapering down to barely a block in width on the southern tip. Within that wing sits a collection of ranch-style homes on lots as large as an acre.
Some Ravenswood Gardens homes have small groves of fig and pecan trees. The exception to the country feel of the place is along Lillian Highway to the north, which is commercial and home to RPM Concepts, an auto repair shop, and a Happy 7 Food Store. Even there, trees are plentiful and provide shade and atmosphere.
The western edge of the neighborhood is bordered by several acres of forestland separated by the curve of 50th Avenue and the grounds of the West Pensacola Elementary School. The remainder of Ravenswood Gardens sits on the one-block space between 49th and 48th Avenues, all the way to West Jackson Street.
Secondary schools such as Escambia High are a bit farther away. Among nearby private schools are Troy University and the Christian Institute of Arts and Sciences. About a mile north is the Osceola Municipal Golf Course, which has welcomed golfers since 1926. The course has some of the least-expensive greens fees in the city, including special weekday and youth rates.
Closer to home is the three-acre Meadowbrook Park, which has picnic tables, playground, and athletic fields. Churches of various faiths are nearby.
