Legacy Oaks Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
The Legacy Oaks neighborhood is an area of wide-open spaces, interspersed with heavy pinewoods and several large ponds. Homes range from quite small to quite luxurious, with in-ground pools and lush landscaping. The neighborhood lies west of Chisholm Road, the only access road, a bit north of East Johnson Avenue in zip code 32514.
Less than a half-mile away are the John R. Jones, Jr. Athletic Complex and Airway Oaks Park. This 70-acre park features 12 baseball fields for youth play and provides programs for young people through the area. There is also a playground and picnic area here.
History and cultural attractions come together in the area of Seville Square. Within a five-block area are Historic Pensacola Village, The T. T. Wentworth, Jr. Museum, The Pensacola Museum of Art, and Plaza Ferdinand VII Park and Garden. It was at Plaza Ferdinand that the Spanish ceded Florida to the U.S. and General Andrew Jackson named Pensacola the capital of the Florida Territories. The Plaza received National Historic Landmark status in 1960.
The area just south features great restaurants, yacht clubs, and businesses that specialize in fishing and diving cruises. Legacy Oaks is only a few miles from the University of West Florida, with a total enrolment of almost 12,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
Pensacola has plenty of golf courses, as expected in the Sunshine State. Scenic Hills Country Club Estates is little more than a mile away. Pensacola Country Club is another private club, located on Bayshore Drive. There are four private golf clubs at the Naval Air Station.
The neighborhood has good access to major discount stores, including Kmart, Wal-Mart, and Target. For more upscale stores, many locals prefer Cordova Mall, which offers Ann Taylor Loft and Coldwater Creek. Cordova also has three anchor department stores, several nationally-known eateries, and more than 100 specialty stores.
