Downtown Pensacola, about seven miles from Lavallet, is the site of many cultural and historic attractions. The Saenger Theatre, which opened in 1925, brings national shows and musicals to the elegent, old stage. The Pensacola Symphony Orchestra also performs here.
Within a few blocks of the Saenger are The T. T. Wentworth Historical Museum and Seville Historic District. The Pensacola Museum of Art is located across from Plaza Ferdinand VII Park, and galleries can be found nearby.
A fine new waterfront park, Plaza de Luna, is a few blocks south of the historic district. The park features a promenade along the waterfront, fountains, and grand lawns. Plaza de Luna is named for the Spanish explorer who founded a settlement here in 1559 and adjoins Palafox Pier Yacht Harbor.
Lavallet is only two miles from a major retail and entertainment district. Cordova Mall provides several upscale stores and department stores. A large theatre complex and many casual dining restaurants are in the mall area. Pensacola State College is here as well.
About six miles from Lavallet is Scenic Hills Country Club, a premier facility. The University of West Florida is near the country club. UWF offers undergraduate and graduate degrees and also provides fine entertainment and athletic events for community enjoyment.
